Zara Corzine studied ballet from a young age, and was known for her penchant for interrupting class with questions about ballet history or well-known dancers that weren’t related to the combinations. Career highlights include a middle school research paper on the Ballets Russes, organizing a seminar on the history of “Giselle” for a group of young students at her ballet school, complete with a field trip to the ballet, and making her father wait in the parking lot while she stayed after class to hear her teacher explain the significance of Bournonville port de bras.
A Brooklyn transplant with Southern roots, Zara majored in Art History at Middlebury College. She spends her days working in the (visual) arts, her nights attending whatever dance performances she can find, and her weekends checking out archival performance videos at NYPL’s Performing Arts Library. She’s slowly chipping away at her goal of seeing the whole New York City Ballet repertoire while she’s still eligible for $30 under 30 tickets.
